Pierce The Veil announce headlining tour

Fresh off of the punk-rock boot camp known as Vans Warped Tour, PIERCE THE VEIL have announced a fall headlining tour commencing October 17th in Phoenix, Arizona and finishing up in the band's hometown of San Diego, CA on November 29th. The six-week trek will be the first headlining tour for the band - Vic Fuentes (vocals), Tony Perry (guitar), Jaime Preciado (bass), and Mike Fuentes (drums) - with support from Breathe Carolina, Four Letter Lie, and Emarosa.

In addition to the abundance of praise from the Warped Tour attendees and regional press, the tour?s founder, Kevin Lyman, listed PIERCE THE VEIL as one of the next big things in the scene in a recent interview with Hurley. ?It?s fun to see Pierce The Veil? where kids are just running to see [them],? Lyman stated. PIERCE THE VEIL received some additional attention when they were bumped up to the Main Stage in several cities including Camden, NJ and Saskatoon, SK. ?Best summer of our lives!? affirmed vocalist, Fuentes. ?We?re looking forward to revisiting everyone on our headliner.?

Earlier this year, the band posted an acoustic duet song titled ?She Makes Dirty Words Sound Pretty? featuring Vic Fuentes and Emarosa vocalist, Jonny Craig. Now that the two bands will be touring together, fans can expect to hear the song live. Attendees can also expect an even more energetic live show than what PIERCE THE VEIL has become known for. ?We are taking 2 months off right now to just prepare for the tour, so expect something fun and memorable,? explained Fuentes. The band will be performing nearly every song from their 2007 debut, A Flair For The Dramatic.

Therefore I Am signs with Equal Vision

Equal Vision Records is proud to announce the latest addition to their roster: Boston, MA's THEREFORE I AM. The five-piece is set to record their debut full length later this year at Strangeways Recording studio in Providence, RI with producer and ex-Hot Rod Circuit drummer Michael Poorman (Piebald, Tsunami Bomb, Paulson) for a Spring 2009 release. Poorman also produced the band's 2007 EP, Escape.

Since THEREFORE I AM's formation in 2004, they've self-released 3 EP's and toured the U.S. many times over with the likes of Vanna, Endwell, The Dear Hunter, and The Receiving End Of Sirens. The band - Alex Correia (Vocals), Brian Marquis (Guitar/Vocals), Travis Alexander (Guitar), James Creighton (Bass), and Chris Fernandes (Drums) - plan to get back on the road once they are finished recording, tentatively in February '09.

About their decision to sign with Equal Vision, Marquis explains, "EVR's past and current roster boasts bands that have fought the same battles that we face today being thrown between many different genres. Growing up with many of those bands and seeing their success, and more importantly their impact, in underground and popular music is what gives us the reassurance that we're working with the right team."

Fear Before the March of Flames & Damiera announce fall headlining tour

Denver, CO's Fear Before The March Of Flames have just announced a headlining run, kicking off September 5th in the band's hometown and wrapping up October 28th in Salt Lake City, UT. Support for the tour will include I Am The Ocean and label-mates, Damiera.

The 7-week trek marks the first full US tour for the band - David Marion (vocals), Adam Fisher (guitar/vocals), Zachary Hutchings (guitar), Mike Madruga (bass), Clayton "Goose" Holyoak (drums) - since their support slot with Circa Survive in late '07. In addition to the shared general excitement of being back on the road, the band also feels particularly close to this tour because of its DIY elements. The band members and a close friend booked the tour themselves - without the assistance of an agent - at smaller, intimate venues and threw away any sort of rider. "For this tour we decided to go back to the organic roots of why we started this band. It was to play with friends and see the country. After being on such a light touring schedule for the last 9 months we really had time to think about where we want this band to fit. This tour encapsulates our mind frame for playing music," affirms Madruga. In addition to low ticket prices for the attendees, the band has encouraged their tour mates to share equipment to cut back on gas expenses and has thrown away any sort of rider for the promoters. Fisher adds, "I think bands these days think they deserve so much. In my opinion we?re lucky to do what we do. It?s comforting to know there are other bands who are down for the cause and willing to be part of this."

Fear Before The March Of Flames have just wrapped up recording their fourth full-length with producer Casey Bates (who also produced the band?s 2006 release, The Always Open Mouth) at his studio in Seattle, WA and plan to play some of the new tunes on the tour. "It will be the first time we have performed them, so they will definitely transform during the course of the tour," says Madruga.

The band has also recently indicated that a big announcement will be made in the near future via their website, www.marchofflames.com

Olympia Writing, Recording, Seeking New Vocalist

Washington DC's Olympia, have recently signed with Endangered Group Management which is owned and operated by Brian Southall (The Receiving End Of Sirens) and Kyle Johnson (Misery Signals) who's roster includes 'The Famine' & 'Rose Funeral' among others.

In other Olympia news, vocalist Phil Williams has decided to step down as frontman & the band is currently seeking a permanent replacement. Here's a statement from the band:

"We wish Phil the best of luck. He's a great singer & a great friend. Right now we're just anxious to find a replacement and keep moving forward. We've been working hard writing & recording a ton of new material and its coming out amazing. A lot of things have been coming together for us personally and professionally as a band so we figured now would be as good a time as any to announce that we are looking for a singer. This whole situation has re-energized us so to speak, and these new songs are coming out heavier then our previous stuff and it's really exciting."

Olympia has been writing & recording new material for their follow up to their 2007 debut Emergencies. As soon as they find a singer they plan on finishing the writing process and entering the studio sometime in late 08 or early 09. Think you have what it takes to sing for Olympia? Portugal. The Man partners with Equal Vision Records

As the music industry continues to adapt to allow artists to be more involved in their careers - an act that was perhaps accelerated by Radiohead's most recent release - and the band's desire to cater more to their fans, Portugal. The Man and their label and publishing company, Approaching AIRBalloons, and Equal Vision Records have inked a unique agreement. The first release under this exceptional deal will be P.TM's third full-length CD, Censored Colors, set for a September 16, 2008 release.

One of the factors that makes this partnership so unique is that the members of Portugal. The Man will share in the risk as well as in the rewards with Equal Vision, something that is easier for a Platinum act (like Radiohead) than a developing artist. Having self-financed the Censored Colors album, and while they had other label options, P.TM welcomed the idea of having an "open canvas" with Equal Vision, where they could work at their own pace and be intimately involved in all factors of their recording career.

Under the mainstream radar, Portugal. The Man has garnered an incredible buzz with the release of two earlier full-length CDs, 2006's Waiter: "You Vultures!" and 2007's Church Mouth (the latter of which debuted on the Billboard Top Alternative New Artists chart at luck #13), and three EPs, The Pines, the Devil (2006), Devil Say I, I Say Air (digital EP, 2006), and It's Complicated Being a Wizard (2007). They have amassed kudos from an array of media outlets like Filter ("Portugal The Man hasn't merely evolved from the avant-garde, neo-soul that shaped their earliest works, they've transcended it") and Alternative Press ("...it's the songs that truly set this band apart").

Portugal. The Man's unique sound has its roots firmly in front man/songwriter John Baldwin Gourley's abstract vision and unique upbringing. Gourley was raised in a remote log cabin on the outskirts of Wasilla, Alaska that was powered by a generator and had no phone. His mom and dad doubled as a team of dog sled mushers. Add in an extended period of homelessness, a love of science fiction and a desire to make music that does not sound like every other band, and the genesis of Portugal. The Man was formed. Gourley and childhood friend Zachary Scott Carothers formed P.TM in 2003 with Portland, OR's Jason Sechrist joining in 2005. To this day, PTM employs a rotating cast of guest musicians outside of the core four. Gourley is also an accomplished visual artist having created the stunning artwork for the Censored Colors package as well as P.TM's previous releases, tour posters, t-shirts and other items.)

The band intends to tour extensively in support of Censored Colors. P.TM - guitarist/singer/songwriter Gourley, bassist/singer Carothers, newest full-time member keyboardist/singer Ryan Neighbors, and drummer Garrett Lunceford (who replaces Jason Sechrist) - is currently on the road supporting RX Bandits for six-weeks worth of U.S. dates, will then headline a European tour from September 10 to October 4, then, beginning October 14, will headline their own 38-city U.S. tour (initial dates below). Support for this tour will be Earl Greyhound and Wintersleep.

Colin Frangicetto to perform at Spin Book Club benefit

On September 4th, 2008, Circa Survive guitarist Colin Frangicetto will join musician Tegan Quin (Tegan and Sara) and best-selling author Augusten Burroughs (Running With Scissors; A Wolf at the Table) to perform at "Liner Notes" - an event presented by the Spin.com Book Club to celebrate the cross-pollination of music and literature, and to raise money for the non-profit group Housing Works, which serves homeless New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS.

Liner Notes will be held at Housing Works Bookstore Cafe in New York City, and will also include readings by musicians Elizabeth Seward (Spelling & Grammar) and Stephen Christian (Anberlin), who recently published his first novel, The Orphaned Anythings.
